As I prepare to continue on this home redesign journey, I’ve thought a lot about my own personal design style. I’ve reviewed my past and recent décor purchases, researched different styles online, watched a lot of HGTV, and even taken some online quizzes. Some of my style definitions were pretty obvious, like “coastal chic”, but others were more of a surprise. What I found is I’m a solid mix of coastal, contemporary, and Scandinavian design.
Coastal is by far my most comfortable design space and the one I know the most about and am often drawn to so let’s start there. Lot of elements go into the coastal style but I think it is most defined by light, airy, natural colors with décor pieces like driftwood, seashells, and other beach inspired imagery. Some of my personal favorite coastal décor include images of sea turtles, palm trees and pineapples. Mixing and matching these different aspects is a lot of fun and you’ll find a little goes a long way in creating the perfect coastal vibe. Here are a few amazing (and budget friendly) décor suggestions to get you started –

Refining my coastal style has been lots of fun and I’m excited to continue this journey and explore my other design styles – contemporary and Scandanavian. Stay tuned for those updates coming soon!
